Your Wellness Journey
What is Reiki Energy Healing and how does it work?
Reiki energy healing is a sacred and non-invasive practice originating in Japan by Mikao Usui in the early 1900s. Reiki means “Univeral Life Force Energy,” the free-flowing energy force that replaces energy imbalances or blockages in the body that can cause illness or disease. This non-invasive practice fosters deep relaxation, and physical and emotional wellbeing.
Reiki
What can I expect during a Reiki healing session with Reiki Master practitioner Catherine Goodman?
During a Reiki healing session I’ll have you lay fully clothed on a treatment table. Using intuitive wellness, I will gently place my hands on or just above your body to channel free-flowing life force energy. This activates the parasympathetic nervous system where your body will shift from a stress-driven “fight-or-flight” mode to a restorative “rest-and-digest state, supporting both physical and emotional benefits.
What will I feel during a Reiki session?
During a Reiki session it is common to feel a deep state of relaxation. Some clients have reported a tingly feeling throughout their body, while others report a warming sensation. Clients have also described feelings of profound peace, calm, tranquility and harmony.
How can Reiki benefit athletic performance?
Reiki supports the enhancement of athletic performance by reducing pre-competition anxiety, fostering inner peace and deep relaxation throughout the body, relieving stress and tension, and fostering mental clarity. Reiki also supports the body's natural healing process by calming the nervous system.
What are the benefits of Reiki energy healing for cancer patients?
Reiki energy healing supports many benefits for cancer patients, and is used as an effective complementary practice throughout treatment and recovery. It fosters deep inner calm, relieves stress, worry, and anxiety, and it promotes a profound sense of emotional peace and wellbeing. I include Reiki sessions in my cancer support. For a detailed description of my supportive services, please read below under Health & Wellness Coaching.
Please Note: Reiki healing is a complementary practice used to support cancer patients throughout treatment and recovery, and should never be used to replace medical treatments prescribed by a medical doctor.
Are there any side effects to Reiki?
Yes, positive side effects! Clients commonly feel restorative energy, clarity and rejuvenation that can last for several days following a session. A brief emotional reaction may occur due to a shift in energy. On the evening of Reiki, it is also common to experience an incredibly deep sleep throughout the night. It’s suggested to stay hydrated and drink lots of water following your session
Is Reiki safe for pregnant women?
Yes, Reiki is considered a safe and gentle complementary therapy for all stages of pregnancy through delivery and postpartum. It’s non-invasive and does not involve physical pressure or manipulation, allowing for comfortable positioning of pillows.
How long does a Reiki session typically last?
The length of a Reiki session typically lasts between 45 to 90 minutes long, which includes time for a brief conversation beginning and following your treatment.
How often should I receive Reiki treatments?
Consistency is key to receiving the long-term benefits of Reiki. Individuals who use Reiki as part of their on-going wellness regime commonly schedule sessions every two to four weeks. Clients who have incorporated Reiki as a complementary practice while in treatment or recovery come weekly or every other week.
What is the difference between Reiki and a medical treatment?
The practice of Reiki is considered complementary, and is not licensed by the State of California. Reiki complements western medicine such as surgery, chemotherapy, radiation, and other procedures by fostering peace, calm and relaxation, alleviating stress, worry and anxiety, and more. Reiki should never be used as medical advice, diagnosis, treatment, prevention, or a cure for any disease, condition or illness, nor be substituted for medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment by a licensed healthcare professional.
What training and qualifications do you have as a Reiki practitioner?
I was certified in 2024 as a Reiki Master practitioner, having completed the highest level of training in the Usui Reiki Master lineage.
Do you offer on-site Reiki?
Under certain circumstances, I will accommodate a request for on-site Reiki.
What is your cancellation policy?
A 24-hour cancellation is appreciated.

Do you offer distance Reiki and how does that work?
Yes, I do. Distance Reiki is widely considered effective by both practitioners and recipients for reducing stress, anxiety, fatigue, and physical pain, offering similar benefits to in-person sessions. Practitioners use the power of intention to transmit energy guided by the use of specific symbols to connect with the recipient regardless of location. Sessions can be pre-arranged where the recipient is in a restful state (although not required), and often a practitioner will use an object as a surrogate or a photo of the person to focus the energy.

What are Catherine Goodman's qualifications as a Health & Wellness Coach?
I received my training and certification in Life, Health and Wellness Coaching through The Health Coach Institute, an ICF-Accredited Program in 2024.
How is your Health and Wellness Coaching different from seeing a psychotherapist?
Health and Wellness Coaching is considered a complementary practice that is not licensed in the State of California. Health and Wellness Coaches do not diagnose or treat mental health or other conditions. Health and Wellness Coaches focus on proactive, forward-looking behavior change, goal-setting, and accountability to improve current lifestyle habits. In contrast, a psychotherapist must be licensed by the state to diagnose and treat patients for mental health conditions.
How do I know which coaching program is right for me?
I offer a 20-minute complimentary consultation on Zoom for all new clients. During this call, we’ll discuss your health and wellness goals, my holistic coaching approach, and determine if one of my programs is the right fit for you. To schedule a complimentary consultation, please call, text or email me to provide your preferred date and time to meet.
